Strategy, objectives and priorities

The European Polytechnic Institute,Ltd is an educational complex located in the Czech Republic. The history of the complex began in 1991. We offer a wide range of courses in economic informatics and electronic computer study. For the last few years the Institute has participated in international exchange programs and cooperation. Since 2009 the implemented international program ERASMUS has become the basis of the international cooperation. Research conducted together with partners from abroad and implemented within the framework of bilateral contract constitute a vital part of scientific activity of the Institute.

Heading for a broader internationalization of education we are thus setting the following priorities:

  • The main goals of our international strategy in collaboration are focused now on an annual number increase of the student and staff exchange.
  • We are striving to keep the balance between our international students and teachers exchanges and our national ones.
  • When choosing any partnerships, we check whether we are able to share the responsibility and commitment with a partner, whether we can benefit from our partner's contribution and whether their unique skills and strengths could complement our own.
  • We choose our partners not only in the framework of the EU but also from Russia, Belarus and USA.
  • The rising diversity and a quality upgrading of the education of foreign languages among our students and staff are the main priorities at our Institute.
  • The main goal for us is creating a quality upgrade of the services offered to foreign students (i.e. an extension of the catalogue of courses conducted in English, the involvement of our Czech students in the adaptation processes of foreign students).
  • The main strategy in the educational process is adjusting this educational offer to the needs of a changing labor market.
  • The promotion of partnership development among different sectors of education (sectors of higher education, vocational education and adult education) is tailored to fit the needs of these sectors. Our aim is the merging of the foreign student exchange with vocational training, cooperation with companies, establishing broader and broader cooperation with foreign schools of higher education for the purpose of mutual realization of multilateral projects.
  • We also focus on thematic concepts based on the transfer of innovation and research projects, the mutual creation of the programs of studies, and the issuing of dual diplomas.
  • We have created uncomplicated and clear administrative procedures at our Institute allowing for the improvement of student exchange standards within the framework of LLP, promoting an awareness of the importance of cultural and linguistic diversity, promoting equality between men and women and contributing to combating all forms of discrimination based on sex, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation.
  • We are aiming for the activate implementation and promotion of the ideas of the following LLP programs: Comenius, Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Tempus etc.

Implementation of the programme is the responsibility of vice-rector for foreign affairs, with the support of study department and top management of the institution.

Erasmus Student Charter

The status of 'Erasmus student' applies to students who satisfy the Erasmus eligibility criteria and who have been selected by their university to spend an Erasmus period abroad – either studying at an eligible partner university or carrying out a placement in an enterprise or other appropriate organisation. For study mobility, both universities must have an Erasmus University Charter awarded by the European Commission. For placement in enterprise the home university must hold an extended Erasmus University Charter (i.e. also covering rights and obligations relating to placements).


As an Erasmus student, you are entitled to expect:

  • Your home and host universities to have an inter-institutional agreement.
  • The sending and receiving institutions to sign with you and before you leave a Learning/Training Agreement setting out the details of your planned activities abroad, including the credits to be achieved.
  • Not to have to pay fees to your host university for tuition, registration, examinations, access to laboratory and library facilities during your Erasmus studies.
  • Full academic recognition from your home university for satisfactorily completed activities during the Erasmus mobility period, in accordance with the Learning/Training Agreement.
  • To be given a transcript of records at the end of your activities abroad, covering the studies/work carried out and signed by your host institution/enterprise. This will record your results with the credits and grades achieved. If the placement was not part of the normal curricula, the period will at least be recorded in the Diploma Supplement.
  • to be treated and served by your host university in the same way as their home students.
  • to have access to the Erasmus University Charter and European Policy Statement of your home and host universities.
  • Your student grant or loan from your home country to be maintained while you are abroad.

As an Erasmus student, you are expected to:

  • Respect the rules and obligations of your Erasmus grant agreement with your home university or your National Agency.
  • Ensure that any changes to the Learning/Training Agreement are agreed in writing with both the home and host institutions immediately they occur.
  • Spend the full study/placement period as agreed at the host university/enterprise, including undergoing the relevant examinations or other forms of assessment, and respect its rules and regulations. Write a report on your Erasmus study/placement period abroad when you return and provide feedback if requested by your home university, the European Commission or the National Agency.

  • Identify the problem clearly and check your rights and obligations.
  • Contact your departmental coordinator for Erasmus and use the formal appeals procedure of your home university if necessary.

If you remain dissatisfied, contact your National Agency.

What are the goals of the program?

    Main objectives:
  • to improve the quality and increase the amount of student and staff mobility throughout Europe
  • to improve the quality and increase the amount of multilateral cooperation between higher education institutions in Europe;
  • to increase the degree of transparency and compatibility between higher education institutions in Europe;
  • to improve the quality and increase the amount of multilateral cooperation between higher education institutions and enterprises in Europe.


Erasmus Programme at EPI

ERASMUS programme is the European Union founded programme which offers students the chance of studying in another European country for periods between 3 and 12 months.

The aim of the programme is to encourage and support academic mobility of higher education students and teachers within the European Union. It supports international cooperation of schools of higher education and enables their participation in various international projects.

Erasmus University Charter provides the general framework for all European co-operation activities a higher education institution may carry out within the Erasmus Programme. The Charter sets out the fundamental principles and the minimum requirements underlying the Erasmus activities a higher education institution has to respect. The Charter entitles your institution to participate in decentralised Erasmus activities, as well as to act as an applicant organisation in Erasmus centralised actions (multilateral projects, networks and accompanying measures) managed by the Executive Agency. It enables student and teaching staff mobility, curriculum development, co-operation projects and networks.

Before you start your studies at a foreign university, you should learn the rights and duties of Erasmus students. They are set out in the Erasmus Charter.

Your Application forms have to be approved by our authorities and coordinator. After your applications forms are signed by our university, you will get back one copy of Application Form and Learning Agreement. You will also receive an acceptance letter.

Due to the current situation, when we did not receive the new ECHE charter, we are promoting international mobility of our students and staff using the services of external agencies.

The strategy of European Polytechnic Institute, Ltd. is to educate and train professionals through practical work and experience. Our students are directly cooperating with companies, implementing the knowledge and projects for the given company. We are trying to introduce real situation to solve, real cases to work on to the students. Part of that strategy is promoting of summer study and work abroad programmes.

The year 2013/2014 gave us opportunity to introduce following programmes to our students:


Our students were offered the possibility of study and working programs in China. While it is not very common destination, in the future it would be very advantageous if our students had contacts in China. One of our students, Tomáš Kuruc, applied for this program and is currently in the process of acceptance.

The agency Czech-US is agency concentrating on work and study programs nearly all over the world. Our students were interested mainly in work programs in countries like Spain, Greece, USA, but less common destinations were also popular (New Zealand). We will continue in promotion of this agency for the future students, as our main goal is to give our students possibility to try working and studying abroad.

Our third promoted work and study program for our students was the program of the agency Rhodesnow. This agency concentrates on the island Rhodes and provides working experience for students in the area of hotels industry. Our students were very interested in this possibility and we are going to cooperate in cooperation with this agency. The agency also uses Erasmus financing for students and therefore we could combine the support from the European Union in this area.

Currently, we are quite limited by the fact, that we were not awarded Erasmus Charter. Therefore we have applied for the new charter for the next time period, to properly use it to support travels and experience of our students and teachers.

Partner Universities

International Cooperation with the Schools of Higher Education

Establishing international cooperation is one of the priorities of the European Polyechic Institute. That is why the main goal of the European Polyechic Institute NOW is to sign more bilateral agreements with prestigious foreign universities and other educational and business organizations.

  1. For the selection of our partners, we have the following criteria:
  2. the size of the university must be approximately the same size as ours, and their fields of study should be similar to our university. Also having similar strategic objectives with new partners is important for us.
  3. We try to look for new university partners from various areas in the world, including the European Union, USA, Africa, Asia, Australia.
  4. The most preferable target groups are students of bachelor study programmes.

The expected impact of our participation in the Erasmus Programme on the modernisation of our institutions.

The five priorities of  the Modernisation Agenda


  1. Priority increasing Attainment Levels
    We want to strengthen the levels kompetence at EPI in the recorgnition of prior learning and levels of experience.
    We want to integrate the european Qualifications Framework over study content.
    We want to reduce the number of unsuccessful students.
  2. Priority II: improving Quality and Relevance
    Via a professional focus and involvement in the program, we want to improve the employability of our graduates.
    We want to complete modules for individual student learning with our partner Universities.
    Our aim is to fully integrate ICT and mobile technologies into teaching.
    Along with the chambers of commerce and enterprises, we want to adapt the content of our study to the needs of the labour market.
  3. Mobility and international Co - operation for Quality
    We will inmplement the recognitiont of our study programes abroad with our partners.
    We will strive for the penetrability and transparency of our study programmes with those study programmes of our partner universities.
    We will develop a system to improve the conditions of access for students from non-EU countries to our university.
    We will continue in the developing of ECTS.
    The Proposals for "Erasmus for All" including the Erasmus Master of New initiative and Action:
    This priority will be undertaken used for students studying in the fields of study under the american acceditation (the fields of study which we have been accredited for at the American Association for Higher Education and Accreditation in the USA).
  4. Strengthening the "Knowledge Triangle"
    We will focus our activities on content and teaching methods, so as to stimulate creativity, capacity for innovation, and entrepreneurial skills of our students.
    Directors and managers of firms will be involved in the work of the university.
    Under the American Association for Higher Education and Accreditation, we will introduce a new accredited European industrial PhD program.
  5. Creating the right governance and funding conditions
  6. We will seek to strengthen the economy of our university.
